According to research, sales of beverages increase when they are cold. However, many companies struggle to provide enough cold stock in the marketplace due to space constraints and high energy consumption. The Gravity Cooler aims to solve this problem by converting warm shelves into cold ones, horizontally.
Unlike traditional vertical coolers that cool 200 beverages per day but only sell 20 bottles, the Gravity Cooler optimizes energy consumption by arranging the beverage stock horizontally. This disrupts the common vertical layout of coolers and increases the visibility of the beverages on retail shelves.
The Shelf Cooler is made of 0.8mm special covered PVC galvanized metal, with 30mm polyurethane material for insulation. It uses a 110gr refrigerant gas to cool the bottles to a temperature of 4 to 6 degrees Celsius. The Cooler also features LED lighting on the inside and front panel, a pusher mechanism for easy access to bottles, and a 225-watt operating system.
With dimensions of 680mm (W) x 480mm (D) x 410mm (H), the Gravity Cooler has a 24-bottle capacity and is designed to fit seamlessly into retail shelves. It operates at a temperature range of 6 to 8 degrees Celsius, with a thermostat set temperature of 4 to 6 degrees Celsius. The Cooler uses R134a refrigerant gas and includes four silicone pieces to prevent slipping.
The Gravity Cooler revolutionizes the way beverages are cooled in retail shelves. By placing a new cooling system directly into regular market shelves, it provides easy access for customers and efficient restocking for employees. Its innovative design language and energy-saving features make it a game-changer in the beverage industry.
The project, led by the Gravity Design Team, started in October 2013 and was completed in January 2014. The team conducted extensive research on consumer beverage choices, which revealed that 84% of customers prefer cold beverages. This insight drove the design process and led to the creation of the Gravity Cooler.
The Gravity Cooler has received recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Digital and Electronic Device Design category in 2017. This prestigious award honors designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and technical excellence, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
